Pernyataan Stop TB Partnership Indonesia Terhadap Epidemi COVID-19
Statement from Stop TB Partnership Indonesia to Raise Concerns About COVID-19 Epidemic
Stop TB Partnership Indonesia is concerned about the well-being of TB patients who are at risk of COVID-19 infection because their immune systems are weak. Ensuring that healthcare workers and TB patients use standard masks is very important to prevent TB transmission. However, we have received information from a group of former patients that TB patients in Jakarta experienced difficulties in obtaining face masks due to skyrocketing prices, associated with the panic response by some members of the public. Some TB patients also enquired whether the government, through health facilities, can provide free face masks because they are afraid of running out of stock in commercial stores.
In addition, Stop TB Partnership Indonesia is also worried that the current situation will have an impact that may disturb supply of TB drugs, especially for drug resistant tuberculosis patients. We recommend that public statements on how this outbreak may impact the TB program and how it can be addressed by the Ministry of Health with the support of WHO Indonesia.
Stop TB Partnership Indonesia is very concerned with the transmission of COVID-19 in Indonesia and supports the efforts of the government, private sector and the community during this situation. Stop TB Partnership Indonesia hopes that active steps such as contact tracing, detecting and treating infected contacts can be carried out in a massive and integrated manner to achieve optimal results in responding to the outbreak.
